Need some help.

On July 12th 2009 I had a dream that inspried me to write a short story called Paradise Plundered . Basically about a alien race (though in the dream they all look like species of Pteradons) defending themselves from the invading humans.....

now... understanbly this is beginning to sound a familiar plot that I hardly need to name...

It could be that I heard rumours of the plot for Cameron's new film and it influence my dream, I'm not sure when he first annouced the plot for Advatar. The point is though I don't feel ...well, right... in continuing this story because everyone would go," this is just a rip off of the glory that is Advatar." So, perhaps I should put this story on a self, as it were, to fester until the hype has died (by the looks of it this will take about 40years :D). It just wouldn't feel right because when I started this I felt it was quite different, then along comes Advatar and now I feel a dirty con-man with each sentence.

I have other story ideas that I can do insted or do you think I'm just being stupid and continue this regardless...because this is the basic crappy plot frame:

Prolouge: Main Characters Mother dies trying to reason a peace between the humans using a glamour to entice them to stop turning the lush rainforests to desert(for the plant life has withered due to the foreign touch that sort of infects them)
*Main character gets captured by human bounty hunter (the closest I can describe this human villian)
*She escapes but needs to rescue a friend so war breaks out.
*Ending not decided yet

Any feedback would be grateful.
